Spy Shots: Fully-undisguised 2008 Honda Accord
Jalopnik has scored some primo spy shots of the 2008 Honda Accord. Super-shutterbugs Brenda Priddy & Co. captured both the sedan and coupe out in the open as they were being prepared for a photo shoot. As you can see by looking at the coupe (click image at right for full views), it's basically a dead ringer for the concept car Honda trotted out in Detroit, only the production version's got a nicer-looking lower front fascia. Around back, the concept's through-the-bumper exhaust has been replaced by a conventional setup. The sedan also receives the new face and its profile is now graced with a BMW-esque kink in its C-pillar. Head to Jalopnik to see all the pics, then weigh in with your opinions. [Source: Jalopnik]

The exterior does seem to be Saturn L series meets Camry. We all know the outcome though. They could have upgraded the last Yugo design to hit U.S. shores and put Accord on it and it would still be so great.
Like the new CR-V. Holly cow. The front end of that thing looks like an unfinished vehicle. A four inch gap between what looks like the front of the trunk (whether it is or not that is what it looks like) to the bumper. They could of had that front lip 2 inches higher or 4 inches lower without changing any other body panel. But hey, it is the best selling SUV from what I understand. Honda is laughing their aces off. I know there is a Honda engineer out there collecting his dollar bill for betting that the 4 inch panel gap look on the front wouldn't cause a single loss in sales for that vehicle.
What are they going to do next? Leave the hood off of the next gen Pilot?

Wow. That's as exciting as vanilla ice cream.
But that is exactly what Honda buyers want. God forbid their rides should stand out.

agree that it's a bit boring and also that it'll probably be appealing to Honda's core customers.
you have to remember, though, that there's a large group of buyers who just want a reliable, inoffensive car that blends into the crowd. it may not appeal to those of us who feel a little more passionately about their cars, but there's certainly nothing wrong with it. i bet it'll sell quite well.

Yeah, however there was a time when the Accord had more "pizzaz" and less vanilla like these 1982-85 models and 1986-89 models with the hidden headlights like the Prelude of the same era and the 1986-89 was the last-gen to have a 3-door hatchback version and left the place for a 2-door sedan....errr I mean a 2-door coupe sorry ^^; (Btw how many of the 1986-89 Accord 3-door hatchback survived compared to the sedan?)

I'm glad that it doesn't look as much like the Altima at the C-pillar
Lets now wait and hear on the driving dynamics, considering the Acura TL hasn't done much to hide the torque steer, I wonder what the 270HP Accord will feel like
An improvement here means improvement on the upcoming TL.
AWD should also be an option seeing how Ford is claiming the rights to better handling of their Fusion AWD in all these comparisons they have set-up.

I would have to agree that it looks like two completely different people on different sides of the planet who didn't even know each other existed designed the front and back ends of the sedan, just doesn't mesh well for some reason.

Honda definitely has some design issues. The sedan is a mish-mash of so many different styles, I don't even know which car to list as 'copied from'. Atleast Toyota steals the full design from Mazda. Honda picks Mazda, BMW, Infiniti etc. for just one car.

Would you like some vanilla with your vanilla? Whatever happened to that Honda concept a year or two ago that was supposed to foreshadow the new Accord? Now that was a good looking car. This is just plain blah. I’m sure it will sell in droves with like minded Camry and Impala buyers.
Why a mainstream manufacturer can’t make a really exciting sedan/liftback (Mazda 6 sedan and hatch look almost the same. And it still looks better than this after years on the market) I have no idea.
So far the best chance we have is the now green lighted Mitsubishi Sportback.
